Researchers surveyed students at the University of Nebraska — young people, not those who grew up in a more overtly racist time — and recorded their brain activity while they looked at pictures of hundreds of couples.
Racist fliers were discovered at several college campuses this week outlining “Why White Women Shouldn’t Date Black Men.” The fliers, which feature photos of white women next to photos of Black men and list various racist claims, were discovered at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis and the University of Oklahoma, according to the Associated Press.
In September, the fliers were also found at the University of Michigan.
During the Fundamentalist-Modernist controversy of the 1920s, Christian evangelist Bob Jones, Sr.
grew increasingly concerned about the secularization of higher education and the influence of religious liberalism in denominational colleges.
Researchers conducted three experiments from 2013 to 2015, studying the views of college students at the University of Nebraska on heterosexual couples in which one person was black and the other white.
